De-risk Custom Solution
De-risk, Knowledge Transfer, Support
Often with custom developments the knowledge resides with one person and therefore there is a dependency on a single point of contact; for a business critical application this can be extremely risky. There are some activities that BBD can help with, by providing technical and functional skills to de-risk the custom developments.
To de-risk the application we recommend an initial assessment and KT
-
Complete an initial assessment of the application to understand complexity and technologies used; this would take approximately 1 day.
-
Gather current documentations and deficiencies.
-
Identify software versions and technologies used
-
Understand the extent of the customisation ie lines of codes and complexity.
-
Module and business processes
-
-
Complete the KT to a sufficient level of detail as a one-off consultancy assignment; the amount of time required will be provided after the initial assessment.
-
Documenting the processes (SOP) if this is not currently available; this allows for a business user to follow the process in the event of key users being unavailable and identify manual processes for business continuity.
-
Provide a KT document ( knowledge transfer) both technically and functionally on how the application works, this allows for a transition to a standard support model and information about the application for future upgrades and patching.
-
After de-risking the application with the KT we can provide consultancy or a support service.
To provide a support services the pre-requisite are:
- Completing the initial assessment and KT.
-
Provide a separate environment for testing and troubleshooting issues.
-
Provide remote access to the production and test environments for problem analysis.
-
Agree on a SLA for support if entering into a support agreement.
-
Agree on a standard maintenance fee to cover a support agreement
-
Agree on an escalation procedure.
